Walking group takes a step in the right direction to a healthier life
Give your health and body a kick start this summer by joining a walking group in Chatham. The All Saints Children’s Centre Walking Group meets every other Thursday at the centre in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham. The walking group is aimed at local parents and as the walks will be buggy friendly they can bring their children along too. Each walk lasts for two hours, from 10am to 12noon.
Co-ordinator Jo Bunn said: “We formed the group last year and it was a great success. It provides the parents with a form of exercise that doesn’t cost anything and to help encourage families to keep fit and healthy. “We hope it will also be an opportunity for the families to socialise together during these walks and also hopefully encourage them to walk more at other times rather than hopping in the car or taking the bus.”Families will also be given a reward card and when they have completed six walks they will be rewarded with a treat from the café.
The next walk takes place on Thursday, 20 August, where the group will be having its annual summer picnic and fun day at Luton Recreation Ground in Capstone Road. The walkers will be setting off for the part at 11am. Walkers are encouraged to bring a picnic and ball games to play with at the park.
For more information about this group please phone Jo Bunn or Linda Gaade at the centre on 01634 338833.
