Lara Slavin - Editor

About the magazine

Lara previously worked in marketing, sales and advertising. Following the birth of the first of her three children, she spent 8 years as a regional manager and agent for a baby products company. Her experience in running her own business and as a parent has been invaluable in creating a publication that meets the needs of both reader and advertiser.

As three Kent mums with eight children between us, we know how much information is passed by word of mouth amongst mums and dads in the playgrounds or at toddler groups and antenatal classes.

We produce a magazine that shares that information with a wider audience in a friendly and informal way - whilst at the same time keeping a strong local focus.

It’s very important to us that the magazine contains 'real' articles on subjects ranging from support for families, education, activies and events taking place in our libraries and country parks as well as promoting local businesses. We feature independently researched and written articles and welcome contributions if you have a story to tell.

That’s why we have set the company as a not-for-profit community interest company, this means we run a commerically viable business that has social aims as well as financial ones.

Kent has a lot to offer families in terms of places to visit, things to do, independent businesses, shops and organisations providing parents with advice and assistance.

All the ideas for our articles come from talking to other parents, health visitors, midwives and businesses, so if you would like to make a suggestion for a future issue, please do get in touch.
